Can I use other active ingredients whilst using Software?
Depending on the active ingredient, for the first 6-8 weeks when starting your Software treatment, we recommend avoiding use of other active skincare ingredients due to the increased irritability of your skin.
Certain ingredients may be slowly introduced if your skin is not experiencing any irritation or side effects from your Software formula.
You can find more information on using different active ingredients while on Software treatment below. If you’re not sure about using a product, please reach out to the team via the Support Link.
Can I use AHAs / BHAs whilst on my treatment?
Skin exfoliants such as AHAs and BHAs can also be known as the following ingredients, salicylic acid, glycolic acid ,citric acid, mandelic acid and lactic acid. You may find acids in: cleansers, toners, moisturisers or masks.
If your skin is free from irritation and tolerating your Software treatment well after 6-8 weeks, you may slowly introduce AHAs/BHAs into your regime. We recommend keeping use to a minimum while using your formula to avoid over-exfoliation. They can be used once or twice a week, on an alternate night to your formula. Please patch test first and cease use if any irritation occurs.
If you’re looking to introduce an AHA/BHA product, our Salicylic Acid Foaming Wash offers the dual action of BHA and PHA, working as a gentle exfoliator to clear away dead skin cells, dirt, and skin impurities, whilst hydrating and repairing your skin barrier. You can purchase it here.
Can I use retinols whilst on my treatment?
Our medical team does not recommend the use of Retinols at the same time as your Software prescription treatment. This is because using too many active ingredients in your skincare regime can result in damage to your skin barrier and worsen the condition of your skin.
However, you can use additional Retinol products on your ‘off’ days where you don’t use your Software treatment.
If you’re looking to introduce a Retinol product for your ‘off’ days, we have our Software Retinol Complex Oil that helps to fight visible signs of ageing, stimulate cell renewal and protect the skin from environmental stressors here.
Can I use Vitamin C while on my treatment?
As Vitamin C may be a bit irritating at first, we recommend waiting 6-8 weeks until you have an established routine with your Software treatment, before introducing Vitamin C. When first introducing it, please patch test first and cease use if any irritation occurs.
It’s best to use it at separate time to your Software formula e.g. use your Vitamin C in the morning, and use your Software treatment at night.
If you’re looking to introduce Vitamin C into your routine, our Vitamin C & Ferulic Acid Serum is a high-potency brightening serum that targets fine lines and pigmentation. You can read more about it and purchase via the link here.
