Hyperpigmentation (increase dark spots or patches) can occur with initiation of active treatments we provide at Software. Unfortunately, the risk is higher in darker skin types, especially Fitzpatrick Type IV and above. If you are experiencing a darkening of pigmentation with your new formula, please be assured that this is a normal side effect and will improve over time.
Some patients may experience an initial worsening of their pigmentation or develop new spots on our their Software treatment. This typically occurs due to a stress response within the skin that is triggered by irritation from the ingredients you have introduced. Warding off irritation is key in preventing pigmentation from progressing - that’s why we added ingredients into our custom formulas to soothe your skin!
